Every gentle ring is more than a sound.
It's communication. It's trust. It's love.
It's communication. It's trust. It's love.
Every gentle ring has a story behind it.
Back in 2005, ours started with our dog, Oscar.
We were trying to potty train him and, honestly, it wasn’t going very well. We even went to puppy training school… and it still wasn’t clicking for us. It was frustrating.
We were watching him closely, trying to stay one step ahead, but it always felt like we were guessing.
Oscar would go sit by the door and wait.
Sometimes we noticed. Sometimes we didn’t.
And you could tell he was trying.
That was the part that stayed with us…
he understood more than we thought, he just didn’t have a clear way to tell us.
Around that time, we were visiting a friend and saw their dog ring wind chimes hanging from the door handle to go outside. They were so proud of him… and it really stuck with us.
It made us realize what was missing.
Oscar didn’t need more training.
He needed a way to communicate.
We started wondering if we could create something similar, but designed just for dogs. Something simple, consistent, and easy for them to learn.
So we made a set for Oscar.
We rang the bells every time we took him outside. It didn’t take long before he made the connection.
One day, he walked up, nudged the bells, and looked right at us.
We still remember that moment. It was exciting, a little surprising, and honestly… kind of amazing. It felt like we finally understood each other.
That’s when everything changed.
We made a few more sets for friends who were going through the same thing, just wanting to help them avoid that same frustration. And then they started telling their friends.
Before long, PoochieBells were finding their way into homes all over the country… even getting picked up by HGTV along the way.
More than 20 years later, not much has changed.
We still make PoochieBells by hand in the USA.
We still use dog-safe, lead-free bells.
And we still believe in keeping things simple and made to last.
Because this was never meant to be something temporary.
It’s something your dog learns once… and then uses every day after that.
And for us, it will always come back to that first ring… and that look.
We are honored to be trusted in over a million dog-loving homes since 2005.
Helping dogs communicate with the people who love them, that's what brings us joy.
Welcome to our Family :)
